A SCOUT'S SUMMER CAMP EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

·          REQUIRED:

o    Completed Annual Medical form (Due by May 23)

o    Medications (inform adult leaders) 

o    Schedule for week (Distributed on May 23)

o    Scout Handbook (with name on it)

o    Paper/notepad

o    Pens & pencils

o    Merit badge course materials

o    Trunk w/lock

o    Large duffle bag

o    Bedding for cot (sheet/blanket/sleeping bag)

o    Scout A-class shirt (short sleeve)

o    Scout shorts (can be poly zip-off pants)

o    Scout crew socks (at least 2 pair)

o    Scout belt (built in on poly zip-off pants)

o    Troop neckerchief & slide

o    Troop green and khaki B-class t-shirts

o    Troop baseball cap

o    White athletic socks (no stripes; 6 pr)

o    Bathing suit 

o    Towels (at least 3)

o    Footwear/boots/sneakers (at least 2 pair)(no open toes)

o    Spending money for Trading Post and Merit Badges ($50.00)

o    Watch

o    Change of C-class clothes for 6 days

o    Comb/brush & shampoo

o    Toothpaste, toothbrush & soap (container)

o    Deoderant

o    Canteen/water bottle (with name on it)

o    GOOD Poncho/raingear (Spend more than $10)

o    Compass

o    Long sleeve shirt/long pants for Swimming/Lifesaving MBs

·          HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

o    Flashlight (w/extra batteries)

o    Baby powder & foot powder

o    Bug repellent (non-aerosol)

o    Cot-size air mattress/camp chair/SMALL pillow

o    Clock or watch (with working alarm)

o    Sunglasses/sunscreen

o    Sweats/long sleeve shirt/long pants

o    Daypack

o    Laundry bag

o    Pocketknife w/Totin Chip card

o    Extra rope (25-50 feet)

o    Baseball glove (Troop games)

o    Toilet paper (camp runs out)

o    First aid kit/sewing kit

o    Tevas/sandels (for shower only) 

·          OPTIONAL:

o    Camera/film

o    Fishing gear (no exposed hooks & tackle in a tackle box)

o    Hatchet/saw

o    Hammock/tarp w/ropes

o    Work gloves

o    Whiskbroom

o    Lantern

·          FORBIDDEN: (Taken away from you)

o    Bikes/roller blades/skates/skate boards

o    Coolers/large quantities of snacks or candy

o    Fireworks/fire crackers/sheath knives/butterfly knives

o    Drugs/alcohol/firearms/pets

o    Cell phones/iPhones/Radios/TVs/iPods/GameBoys, etc.

Archery: Cost for arrow & bow string making kits $3.00 - $5.00

Athletics: Bring your personal glove & bat (also for Troop softball games)

Basketry: Cost for basket kit $4.00 - $6.00

First Aid: Bring home-made first aid kit

Fishing: Bring personal gear & tackle

Leatherwork: Cost for leatherwork kits $4.00 - $8.00

Lifesaving: Bring long-sleeve button-up shirt and long pants (jeans)

Orienteering: Bring a compass

Shotgun Shooting: Cost for shells & skeet $12.00 - $15.00

Swimming: Bring long-sleeve button-up shirt and long pants (jeans)

Wilderness Survival: Bring home-made survival kit & steel wool

Woodcarving: Bring own knife. Cost for wood kit $4.00 - $6.00

NOTES:

·  The Troop 434 Annual Outing form is also required with the Annual Medical form (include a backup emergency contact)

·  Please police your son's gear for items on the forbidden list before coming
